Miller Bobcat 225 NT Engine Swap wiring trouble

Recently our onan engine blew up and we bought a replacement motor from repower specialists and got the rotor and generator part all back together and put back into welder. Got all of the numbered wires back on that we had to take off when we took it out, and now we have a wiring harness from the new engine with a 6 pin connector that will fit right into the old connector, but the tech guys at the company we bought the motor from is saying we need to use the 3 wire pigtail that came attatched to the harness.. was just asking if those techs are correct and you have to trace down your wires from the ignition and match them accordingly to color, or if we can just plug in the new 6pin connector to the one the onan engine was plugged into. I can post pictures of everything to better understand what I mean

My guess is it's just a plug-in thing and that Miller simply used the engine side as it came from Onan. Not being there I have no idea what the additional 3-wire harness is for.

Do you still have the old engine to compare old and new 6-wire harnesses?

Follow Repower's tech recommendations to a T & it will work. They know what they are doing.

Worked on mine the first time.
