consider this and let me save you a little time...

the twin carbon arc torch came out at least 60-70 years ago, perhaps longer

there is a very good reason they no longer make them.

might be good for a sadistic torture device but even samm would agree oxy-fuel is more efficient.

I understand what you're getting at 100%. I'll be sure to make a thread about the build.

Seriously, though, the only reason I'd carry one on my truck for heating is cause it's SOOO much more compact that a oxy fuel rig. It would take up any more room than a 5lb box of electrodes.

LOL, that's one of the reasons I want to build my own... I'd already be over-the-moon if it even halfway works how I want. If it actually heated up metal like it aught to, I'd be floored. Then, if it was still mostly in one piece by the time the excitement wore off, it'd go into my mental arsenal of tools when I go to work on something.

I used to have a welder like that one on the far left in the picture. Welded pretty well! And I still have the Forney welding book. I kind of wish I had one of those carbon arc torches. Might come in handy!

There are a few key Spanish phrases that everyone aught to know.

Like, if you're in a public space and stink up the shiiter, it's the polite thing to do to announce "¡Corre, hay una bomba en el baño!" when you come out the bathroom. It warns everyone to stay clear of that room
