I was given an older Hypertherm Max20 plasma cutter that doesn't arc. I haven't had a chance to really look at it yet. Was wondering if there is something that regularly goes bad on these machines.

Craftsman 230/140 AC/DC Miller HF-251D-1
Millermatic 130 Linclon 40 amp plasma cutter
Hypertherm Max 20 O/A cutting and welding stuff
5HP Ingersoll air compressor
Hypertherm no longer supports these units with parts or torch consumables.
All you can do is remove the cover and check for broken or loose wires. on the back wall is a relay / resister assembly. If the resisters are burnt the relay is bad.
Should be able to find parts to make the assembly up. If I remember correctly there are 2 other relays one starts the inverter and the other is the pilot arc relay.
Profax might have consumables. pilot arc is very short on these units.
