It'll always look clean!
Seriously, go with semi-gloss. Matte is harder to clean, and gloss shows imperfections more.

I’m going to using a product by International called TopLac. Marine grade enamel in high gloss. I used International PA10 for the primer.
It’s funny you mention dust. After cleaning the rust off the table top there was red dust on everything.

Re: Stupidly overkill welding table project.
When I first started filling my shop up with tools/junk my walls were white metal and I was making the toolboxes/cabinets all black with red racing stripes or vice versa. At first I really liked it, but as the shop filled it seemed to keep getting darker. I had a couple items (bolt bins, press, one shelf) that were bright orange so lately I've been adding more bright orange for color and to brighten it up. A little more John Deere yellow might make it's way back in as well.

Stupidly overkill welding table project.
I've used a bit of bright orange lately and was liking it until someone pointed out it looked Home Depot-ish.
It contrasts well with charcoal grey or carbon mist tho.

No, no, no. What you REALLY need is some Ford/New Holland blue.

Re: Stupidly overkill welding table project.
I’m just going for that colour scheme you see in old machine shops. White walls with battleship grey machinery and tables. Only colour will be my welders haha. One Miller blue and one esab yellow.

Re: Stupidly overkill welding table project.
Phhht.... I wouldn't worry about what Home Depot is doing... my shop is a way too messy to look like a store anyway. I did add some Miller blue last year, but it's not really a very bright color, especially the old Miller blue. As far as aesthetics go, I like the blue on the cheapy Cut 50 better.... a bottle of Blue in my hand is better yet...

It's just a good color. I'm building a belt grinder right now and the frame is all Ford Blue.
My 52 Ford (yes, I have a 52 Ford truck - hence the screenname) is probably going to get painted silver and blue. Either that or black. It was black from the factory.

Does Tractor Supply have stores in Canadia? (Canadia
)
https://www.majicpaints.com/farm/tti/
They sell Majic paint at Tractor Supply. Good paint.
Dupli-Color Engine Enamel is probably the best spray paint I've used. It's fairly cheap, drys FAST (couple minutes), and its good for 500 Degrees Freedom (260C)

I think TSC in Canada got mostly sold out to Peavy Mart. I'm not sure if they carry any paints... haven't noticed it in the flyers.

I hardly use the esab. I use my Syncrowave 99% of the time. In fact that table was welded with my Syncrowave.
I have always liked the grey colour you see in photos of old machine shops where many of the machines were grey. I like things to be the colour they would have been factory so I thought the grey a good choice if the table had been something you could buy at some point back in the day.

Re: Stupidly overkill welding table project.
The most important factor for me is that everything looks professional. You don’t have to spend a lot of money to set yourself up in a professional looking manner as long as everything is clean and tidy. I definitely need to do a big tidy up next.
I always look at it from the point of view of what standard of quality and professionalism is important to the type of customers you want to attract. Sim for that.

Re: Stupidly overkill welding table project.
I'm my own boss, floor sweeper and customer, so I have a bad tendency to really not care what other's think. I might have to fire the floor sweeper...

I do wonder what I would do differently if I was only interested in this as a hobby.

Oh it's not a hobby for me, not yet anyway. I farm so the repairs I make or the projects I take on are for my own use.

Got to keep the farm equipment going. I have never had anything to do with farming but it’s definitely something I admire.
