Great news sammm, that was a bad burn!


I don't know how good it really is but they sell burn/scar cream (vitamin e I think) at the dollar tree here. Cheap enough so you could load up and reapply all day. I've used it and it seems to help.

Glad to hear so far your flexibility is good and that the pain has mostly subsided.


It's good to be reminded that as bad as things sometimes are, they could always get exponentially worse, and we're all still in this fight.

K'kins bought some white, no fragrance, lotion. But i'm afraid to use it. My hands are always mostly in filthy stuff, and I worry that the lotion will just attract/trap the dirt.

Sam...get some kind of cream with aloe in it and keep it smeared up good til it heals up and you get some tougher hide on the burn area. Be ware though you still may have some trouble with cracks and such in the winter. The knuckles on my one hand split open mostly all winter long since my hands were cooked when the torch blew up in them...about all i can do is smear some sort of cream on them but nothing really prevents it in the winter...and this all happened about 30 years ago.

Its good to hear you are healing well though...I hope all the rest of your health issues go as well as this did

PS yeah the itching can be really bi%^&ing...it drove me flippin crazy for about 6 weeks afterwards especially the webbing between my fingers that took the longest to heal up.

It might be a good idea to go and see a burn specialist at the hospital instead of just your regular Dr. They might be able to prescribe a special cream to put on the burn to help fight infection, keep it moisturized and prevent scabs. I'd definitely cover it but wouldn't wrap it tight. Then try to find a large glove to fit over the dressing. Maybe even a winter glove that's padded.

A lot of Dr's. try to solve problems themselves instead of referring their patients to a specialist. It's very common when there's a skin condition. Years ago I went to a dermatologist to get rid of some boil like bumps on my upper back that were caused by stress. They completely cleared up and part of the treatment was getting misted with liquid nitrogen. The dermatologist said that a lot of people with acne and other skin conditions could have been helped before it got really bad if their Dr. would have just referred them to a dermatologist. I think it's also a little dumb that a person can't just go a specialist but have to be referred by a Dr. Some Dr's. think they can treat everything when they really can't. Maybe it's a jealousy thing???

I do not know about cold but heat yes could hit 111°F [ 44°C] I also most time covert temp to rest of the world too.
In Europe they have cool weather only [40°C] sounds cold 🥶 that it is 104°F still cooler that me.

WOW! Sammm, sorry to see this happened. What frightens me most is you're not some rookie. This can happen to the experienced guys too, I see. Glad it's healing. I broke my right wrist snowmobiling once, so I know EXACTLY what you mean about paperwork in the oval office. I always said, from that point on I would periodically use the left, just in case!
