How to get the trigger hold to work on this puppy
we got 2 of these and the light turns on but won’t actually lock the trigger. Any ideas??

Re: How to get the trigger hold to work on this puppy
On machine welding I use a standard wall switch.
But on gun I not seen a lock.

Nice feeder, are you getting one of these ? What power supply do you guys use ?

says you need to hold trigger for 5 seconds until arc is established . Maybe hold trigger a little longer ?
good luck

It's a comfort and accuracy thing. Means you don't choke the gun in a death grip, and makes it easier to run steady for minutes on end. If I were welding seams all day long like Moto is, I'd want the trigger hold feature activated too!
Strange, obviously Moto has the function activated but it's not doing anything. Unless there are other functions that interfere with it, like slope in/out? Or as in post #5, are you expecting it to trigger-hold straight away, but need to hold it for 5 seconds to latch first?
Give me a normal trigger latch function any day
One toggle switch on my old Miller 64 feeder, and one push button on the Lorch... having said that, the 5 second delay thing would be handy for tacking and welding out once you got used to it.

@moto, are you using these with the new series of Deltawelds? How do you like them?

FYI
When had shop with employees I removed the trigger lock from hand drills for safety reasons and drill bit life.

Yes. I use a old milled most the time. The deltas weld pretty good tho. Little easier seems like, puddle looks a little more fluffed up and balled up while making the weld seems like. Really only used one for core a few times tho. For hard wire I think I like the xmt a little more

Re: How to get the trigger hold to work on this puppy
i wouldnt want something that dont turn when i let go, but i wouldnt want my front finger holding it either. id try to extend the trigger, mine is so my flipper or ring finger can hold it. shouldnt be too hard to adhere/fix something on there, like this

Dude asks a simple question about a commonly used feature, and y'all tell him it's a bad idea and to do something else instead
Moto, did you check the 5 second thing?
I have a LOT of time for XMTs. Such a sweet MIG arc. Not sure how they got that machine so "right" but they did... somehow

Re: How to get the trigger hold to work on this puppy
Some people love auto trigger I just never did on the Miller wire feeders I have used it's as switch hold on you wait the time and let go but if you wait longer it stop. I always want it off but in some long boring flat welds I would used it once in a while.

Re: How to get the trigger hold to work on this puppy
I have purchased both Miller and Tweco 250 amp to 750 amp and none had a locking trigger.
If had one I would had removed the lock so my employees did not have pile of wire on the floor.

i agree. i had or have a machine that if no arc/contact is sensed about 10 seconds after drive rolls start, the feed will stop - kinda nice

boo hoo poor me. Oh no wait, I'm a big boy
Just saying. It's a really commonly used function. It wasn't a stupid question. But as usual, some members feel like they need to "contribute their opinion"

Re: How to get the trigger hold to work on this puppy
Personally I was just joking. moto's question was answered and we were waiting for an update.
I for one can certainly see the advantages of a trigger hold feature. I have a couple old guns (brand unknown) that have a push on, push off switch for prolonged welding commonly seen in production settings.

people put themselves in those positions there in, just as u urself have w/ ur off color household pics : kids u claim, but look nothing like u. some wearing only a diaper or nothing at all. posting pic(s) of urself half clothed to an all male audiance/weld web. then, when another memeber revealed how much ur trying to look like the homosexual singer from the band queen, i realized how bad u might be. apparently u bring this behaviour to work and got fired, i remeber u pasting texts from ur boss, telling u to keep ur drama/family problems out of the work place before u come back. so i was only trying to help u above, as i know what a mess ur in

Re: How to get the trigger hold to work on this puppy
Some of what you’re writing makes sense, most of it not so much. Did I put anyone down to make myself feel better? No I’m not that low. Talking about someone’s kids is very low.

Re: How to get the trigger hold to work on this puppy
blame me for ur pics/posts, as u degrade urself and kids. here a post of urs the same day as ur post above, admitting that "ur low," and blaming someone else again, claiming "u were kinda pulled down into his low level" .
giving me scrap metal. I’d probably be frustrated if he was a better welder then me but he’s not so that probably why I’m not too worried about the unfairness. I just call him daddy’s girl and call him ***** a lot in front of his dad since his dad is the ultimate crap talker in the shop, you should see the bathroom door. Full of holes from him throwing stuff at it while we’re in the bathroom. We almost got in a fight a few weeks ago and luckily other boss broke it up after I had enough, and he was real quite for a couple days since he thought he was going to scare me and punk me which did not happen. I’ve kinda got pulled down to his low level now I’m throwing stuff in the bathroom towards him now since he leaves the door open
