Anybody has an Everlast MTS 400 ?

Bought this machine some years ago and finally got back at welding more. This machine drives me, and anybody who used it nuts. None of the settings make any sense. I THINK I figured it out, but would love to see if there is anybody else with this machine.
Everlast themselves have no clue about the machine and told me they didn't sell many and just should figure it out by trial and error.

Major issue are the amp and volt settings. The manual says the amp display are amps, but they are not. Its PERCENT when idle and switches to amps when working. But percent of what ? The machine is rated at 400 amps using 3 phase and 315 amps (manual also wrong here, says 250) at single phase.
Logic would tell that the percent is based on the amp max per power source, but this seems not to be the case. Only the percent based on 400 amps make sense even on single phase.

So if this is true, what does the machine do at 100 % ?? The wire speeds seems to be also the same for single and three phase. So if it can only do 315 at single phase but runs the wire speed for 400 amps, is it just wrong (unusable) after 315 ? I.e. amps stay same but wire speed goes up ?

Total nonsense is also the volt button on the wire feeder. Settings there are really not corresponding in ANY way to the voltage displayed at the machine.

So again, any experience and insight of this machine is highly appreciated.

What year do you have of it? Different years operated differently. Look at your inspected date tag on the side or back of the welder. Typically it is a percent of max wire speed/amps. But wire speed cannot be measured as it has a slow run in feature characteristics of most modern inverters.
Read the voltage on the machine.
What voltage are you actually running while welding? Is the voltage changing while you make adjustments on the feeder?

What wire and gas are you using?

Thanks for your reply. Its a 2017 model.

The voltage is changing, just that what is written on the wire feeder knob is completely useless as it is totally different of what the welder shows.

I did many tests now and so far this is what it looks like:

1.) "standard" settings from miller calculator does not work (https://www.millerwelds.com/resource...ing-calculator)
Volt settings need to be much higher, what would be the reason for this ? The Everlast data is for 1mm wire which is 0.1 mm thicker than my used 0.035

2.) Base on my test below, the amp display is percent based on 400 amps, even when machine works in 315 amps single phase.
Therefore my original question, if 50 % is 200 amps and the machine can max do 315 Amps that would be 78.75 %. So what does the welder do when set to 100% ?

3.) I had a very hard time to find a setting for 16 gauge. All settings burn through unless I use a setting way below miller recommendation.

Wire used 0.035 and gas is 75% Argon/25% (C-25) shielding gas

Where did you get our specs? We don't have any for that machine listed. What model specs on Miller are you comparing to?

What do you mean by "our" specs ? Are you Everlast ?

The manual is WRONG as it is for the old machine and was never updated, it is from 2010 !!

This is for the old unit, not the new one. So, point being, don't use the old specs.
