Does anyone know anything about this Compressor?
I am looking at this air compressor for sale but I know nothing about it besides it being 3 phase. I can't find any info on psi or cfm. Anyone know anything?

Thats an unusual compressor.
It's direct drive and oilless.
Where is it? Who owns it?
Could be from a hospital, doctors office, a lab, or any number of places that require oil free air. Big oilless compressors are also used to supply breathing air. Both for supplied air respirators and for diving.
The fact that it has a quick coupler directly on the tank is odd, though. If the air is used for a critical application like breathing air, it goes through a series of filters.

It is being sold by a guy here in new zealand that has upgraded to a bigger compressor. It was being used in his shop. He doesn't seem to know much about it.

Any way you can get a look at it in person? Should have a Mfg name on the plate on the motor. The HP rating is going to tell you a lot about how much air you can expect from it. Looks like it might be one of those "ultra quiet" air compressors. As a similar pump configuration to them, anyway.

Yeah I have pictures of the manufacturers plate. It is only 2 horsepower. Motor is general electric. It is currently going so cheap that I may buy it for the novelty. I just want something to operate air tools without running out of oomph. There is a big 3-phase 40cfm single piston compressor at my work not being used anymore that I have inquired about but if I ran that at my shop which is behind my house in a residential neighborhood my neighbors would kill me and then kill me again just to make sure. I have 3-phase electricity so that is no problem.

40 CFM out of one piston?! Jeez! That must be one giant piston. The big piston on my 5HP 2 stage pump is something like 4-1/2" and it's making about 17.5CFM at 175PSI.
2HP could be plenty. All depends on whatcha need. Plus, a real 2HP 3 phase compressor is NOT the same as a "2HP" single phase compressor that you get at the home improvement store.
If the price is right, get it. I suggest pulling all of the cylinder heads off, clean the reed valves off the best you can and maybe add a little bit of high temperature, high viscosity grease to the reed valves and to the cylinder walls.
You're probably looking at about 7 or 8 CFM at 90PSI. Give or take.
With a decent size reciecer tank, you aughta be fine to run pretty much anything you're going to want to in a residential shop.

I’ll see how the sale goes. It’s an auction but I’ve placed an offer. The novalty of it and history at such a stupid cheap price makes me want to buy it just for that.

Re: Does anyone know anything about this Compressor?
Looking at the Gast website at what they sell the 2hp pumps they sell which is what this is the ones with 4 pumps like this seem to be the higher flow options of what they sell. Quiet is definitely appealing.
