Unfortunately...Yup.
You can get a 10' replacement whip from here
https://usaweld.com/collections/linc...ger-connection
they advertise 10,12, and 15 but I would just stick with the 10'.
So I have a Lincoln 175SP that uses the 10' Magnum 100 gun which is no longer supported. I swapped a 15' 250L gun onto it and my welds have gone to crap! Is that extra 5' too hard on my machine? I noticed if I upped the power I could get slightly better welds but spatter and popcorn abounded.
Am I limited to a 10' stinger on my lil-mig?
Thanks

Thanks Broccoli, I caved and swapped the 10' back on and my welding prowess has returned.
I trash picked a SP100 110v unit with a bad gearbox (nla) so I'm going to 3D print one and try it out for mobile repairs - I had wanted to put my 100L on that one. I guess I'll swap it to test and then the new gun will go onto the 175.
Realistically 10 footers aren’t the end of the world. Just requires planning and repositioning of the welder or cart.
Pretty much the identical problems you run into with a 15 foot whip, only 5 feet sooner. LOL.

I agree
I used Tweco and had 10 foot gun for aluminum wire.
The longer the gun the more difficulty you have feeding the wire.
Today my welder has a 6 foot gun but life the welder w/wire too.
I also have 8" wheels so moves easily even over dirt
My old wire feeder (Miller 30A) with wire was about 120 pounds and the wire was exposed 😳.

Not sure what size wire you are trying to push but 023 and a 15' gun will be disappointing. Plus those little SP and Weldpak units had a pretty weak feed motor and when it labors it will lose some wire speed. There's a million 10' Tweco style mig guns on Amazon for $50 or less.

i dont think id be so fast to accept the extra 5' is the cause on this. id be taking a close look into a connecrtion/feed related problem first
the magnum 100L consumables are all still available. use Lincoln or tweco.
the only thing that should make them unusable is when the weld conductor breaks at the welder end. even then with a large soldering iron you can repair that.
the only difference between the 100l and the 100l pro is the gun tube, diffuser, tip and nozzle. and you can switch gun tubes if you buy a pro gun but still want to use the old style consumables. Done it.
some stores use the excuse oh its obsolete just to get you to buy a new one.
You can buy a pro gun that will fit your welder. or just cut the plug off and crimp on a couple of QD connectors.
Thanks cca, that's exactly the route the shop went when I was looking for a replacement liner. Would a gacked liner cause poor welds - popcorn, burn through, uneven feed? I'm wondering if that 15' 250L gun has a bad liner that contributed to the extra 5's stress placed on the machine. Again, when I switched back to the smaller/shorter gun all was well.
The tension on the feed rollers might not cut the mustard to push 15’ of wire. You might try to use knurled rollers designed for flux core use. You don’t need a lot of tension with the knurled rollers and they don’t let the wire slip so the wire speed stays consistent. I can’t imagine the problem being the extra 5’ of welding lead in the gun.
As with any new gun you put on a machine you need to know the liner is good, not kinked or all clogged up.
How does the wire feed through the 15’ gun by hand. Is it very easy to push wire through the gun with your hand or do you struggle or have to apply a lot of grip and force the wire through the gun?

The question has been asked already but what wire size are you trying to push ?

good point N2, I never tried pushing the wire through by hand. It's .030" btw, but I also run .023/.025 through it for bodywork - hoping to relegate the SP100 to .023 for body panels and leave the .030 or even step up to .035 for the SP175... I will be sure to post results.
I would think that with a little mechanical ability you could adapt a feed motor from another brand, model etc. From what I've seen they're pretty similar among the small welders.

Problem solved, I really like the 100L gun for smaller stuff. Its much lighter than my 175 magnum and great for smaller wire (025)on sheet metal.gears
