    Ajax porta-power type tool

Anyone know what my Ajax Porta-Jax tool was meant to do?
It came with chains and extension rods. A pipe fitter threw
it in with some pipe tools I bought from him a few years
back. Never seen a Porta-power with attachments like that.
Maybe pipe fitting? Auto body/ frame straightening?Name: 312BE774-2B86-41BF-9A0A-F1AD08E980A5.jpg

In the old days before the Hurst rescue tool was invented (aka the Jaws of Life), we would use porta power tools to do things like vehicle extrication or in rescue situations (building collapse, cave ins, and like that). The extensions and chains were useful for rolling dashboards or securing a rollover (before anyone actually thought of putting cribbing on the rescue truck). I imagine a pipe fitter would use it like a jack to get large sections of pipe into place.

I saw that there’s a company called “Ajax” that
makes rescue tools. Was thinking might be same
    company?

I don't know. I have been out of the firefighting/EMS business a long time now. Sounds plausible though.

I always thought the porta-power was a very handy tool to have, especially with a good selection of rams and spreaders.

Nothing looks like a real mystery here but it looks like a nice tool. I didn't have a small one around and neighbor brought one over, been handy.
