Can anyone tell me what the core of this battery is?
I'd like to try this, especially the last part where he uses it as a spot welder. But the two different batteries I cut open do not have a solid core. They just have a paper tube filled with something. It would be pretty handy to have that ability for occasional use without making or buying an actual spot welder. I made one of those spot welder caps for my mig and meh...it sort of works in a limited way.

He's using the carbon electrode from a carbon-zinc battery (heavy duty battery). The alkaline battery label on it is false advertising.

You can buy carbon rods on ebay. I bought a few to try to see if I could use my welder to heat metal to bend/shrink it...never got around to trying it though.

eBay has carbon fiber rods and one offering of carbon arc torch carbon rods. Which should I use or something else?
