    Does any refurb motherboards?

It seems like the go-to around the 'nets/shops is to just 'replace power board'.

I inspected a Hypertherm Powermax 30 XP for a friend and found that the "TOP247YN" was literally blown up and one of the legs went with it too. I soldered in a new one (everything else looked OK) and it's still not showing any signs of life (no LEDs light up when switched on).

Does anyone know what it would take to refurbish theses motherboards?

    Re: Does any refurb motherboards?

    You can try here:

    https://innovatcorp.com/pc_board_repair_price_list

But a few years ago I needed a board for a Powermax 45 and they didn't have it because hypertherm does not release the schematics or something to that effect.

Not sure if that has changed.

I ended up getting a replacement board from hyper but it was like pulling teeth.

It is a program inside your computer that runs older operating systems on Windows 10 and 11. Some will go back to systems of the 1950's.

Can I get a couple pictures of that board? I haven't messed with a Hypertherm, but I might be able to give a little bit of insight if I had a visual of what the damage looks like.

    Re: Does any refurb motherboards?

If Powermax 30 XP has nothing to do with computer mothers.

There are guy repairs old industry board. But they charge a lot.
Odds are it is switch if newer it could a battery most time it is CR2032. If so it could loss programing. If loss programing you find places that will reprogram for $200.00 and up.

    I looked up "TOP247YN". It's a MOSFET.

The question to ask is, "WHY did that 'fet pop?"

Eleven windows is too many; I like to look out all of mine at once, but can't get my individual eyes to each focus through a different one if I have more than eight (8).

Is it true that Dave got bit 16 times in one day while opening a window?

JohnT and 52 Ford tried to offer actual help or advice.

The rest of the thread exhibited your screen name of logical madness and got sidetracked or derailed. That happens relatively frequently here

There are actually quite a few helpful people here.

    I'm sorry to hear that
but if you scroll up to post #3 you will see that this member is responsible for the thread going south.

Lately it's been a real problem on this board. He seems to infiltrate nearly every conversation and side Steer it.

There is a lot of good information on this board if you wade through the occasional idiot.

I see nothing logical about derailing a question from a forum post, only madness.

Thank you to those who tried, but the question remains:

Is anyone out there refurbishing these boards?

This is one company that does - answered in post #2. They have a list of all the boards they work on listed by manufacturer.

    http://www.yorkelectronics.com/ Here is another.

Sooo... like I posted before - I'd like to see some pictures of the board in question along with the damage you mentioned.

Can't really give ya any advice other than what I have you in a previous post till I have more info to go on. Sounds like the 'fet experienced too much current and popped. Can't begin to hypothesize why without knowing what the rest of the circuit looks like.

Edit: as for companies that refurbish these boards, I don't have any experience with any, so any suggestions I give would be based off the same Google search you've probably already done.

Nothing got derailed; you asked a somewhat complex question without giving enough information (on a subject only tangentially related to welding), then didn't come back for a day to consider the answers a few members had provided, then complain without looking into what occurred (and why) here in the meanwhile, none of which affected the rest of the thread's validity. You still apparently haven't done anything with the information that was already provided.
BTW, most of us (both regulars and guests) aren't electronics experts.

Maybe you'd like a chance to start over?

Sometimes it pays to call around to the larger repair facilities and see what they have used. I found a main board for a smoked Hyp 45. I'll pm you a couple of larger operations.
