I would double check the ground for the new reed switch and make sure it's closing when striking an arc. You can check this with an ohm meter checking for continuity to ground at the idler board red wire.
If the reed switch is functioning properly then the idler board would be suspect. If needed, this is where I get replacement idler boards.
