The champion gear is the real deal, and proven to last.. More for the industrial user, not hobby stuff at all..

Haven't tried the newer stuff, but the old Greenlee holesaws are nice.

Are you saying the other brand isn't of good quality? If so, how do you know? Do you know anyone who's tried them?

I got a couple of kits from Champion. good stuff but no real depth of cut. Also quite a bit thicker walled, almost like a annular cutter. I was just out at his shop giving him my Slotter, and he is going to mount his annular drill on it.. It's when he showed me the cutters. He talked about them years ago, and is still stoked about them..His poor Radial drill just sits there.. (it's huge)

I just use my Cincinnati #2 Horizontal for most of my stuff. Nitto Kohki or Champion Annular cutters and 3 inch deep on some..I do have a Nitto auto cutter too..

Farmersamm been up to his place, and knows it too.. Besides the post said best drill bit for 1 inch steel, not second best,etc...

Did someone scrape in the top of that mill table?! The scraping on the Z axis looks pretty nice, too.

But as most people know, the term 'Best' varies from person to person and situation to situation. Not everyone needs to drill 1000 holes in 3/4" steel next week, and if someone needs to drill eight or ten different-sized holes in half a dozen pieces, he may not be able to afford to buy eight or ten of what you consider the best for your needs.

I prefer not to buy from Amazon for political reasons, if I have a choice....but may need to order that set just to test them, and if they don't last a reasonable time, I understand Amazon has a generous warranty policy. The biggest problem with the testing may be finding the time, plus thinking of some useful projects that need the holes so I don't waste material in the process.

Over the years I have gotten in on a few promotional/demonstration deals under which new products were sold for less than cost, just to prove to the public that they were great. I didn't regret it.

The label on the box says that they cut 7mm ().18") deep,, max. ,,

That ain't much, when drilling 3/4" thick,,

Has anyone ever used them on a thicker cut??

Yeah Scott, was/is a very nice shop. Jimmie's got it goin' on.......for real. I mean for real.

Probably never get up that way ever again. Is what it is, ya know.

I seem to recall that he had a monster turret drill somewhere in the place, but it's been a while.

Them folks in that bar up there are still recovering from some backward azz Okie wanderin' in there, and ordering BASTED eggs Breakfast is Holy..........ya never mess with breakfast. I don't give a flyin' damn about yer politics................but put a breakfast in front of me that I can eat

The Care packages from Roy used to come wrapped to Kingdom Come. Never saw so much tape, and bubble wrap. I still have a ton of mills he sent, and the shoulder drill. I cherish the shoulder drill. Life is transitory ya know.

Roy turned him on to that monster radial drill press. Turns out Roy finds guys that are harder to deal with, than with than his packages are to open... (Ever received any that his used ring shank gun on? ) He sent me a few nice things too..

This is what UI dropped of at Jimmie's shop. He has a bunch of stuff to use on it.. Bought a manual 5 speed 6 cyl. Ford to tow it.. Pretty good rig, but needs a bit here, and there. Last rig, like yours.. Just don't want to deal with Auto's for towing anymore..
