Fireball tools video on manufacturing process

Here is what I consider to be an interesting video on how his tools are made.

It looks he has a new exta large combination square and a few other new tools coming out.

Some here don't care for him or his toold. But I like them and how he started from his garage like others here.

This video shows the progression of his squares.

I plan on stopping by his booth at Fabtech next month

He's definitely got a good eye for design and thinking a problem out.

I have some of his early DIY squares and like them. I keep saying I'll get some more of his tools, but.... I really don't do enough fabrication to justify them. A full set of his cast iron squares would be nice just to have on the wall in case I needed them.

I HAVE to have one of those squares! That thing is going to be awesome.
I have a Lagasse square and it's ok but the cast aluminum feels kind of chinsy.

Careful, it can get addicting. As soon as you have one set, you start thinking about how great it would be to have a second set. And then those great vise grips he came up with....

I bought the cast iron square in 8 inch. I chose those since I was worried about dropping the aluminum ones and damaging them.

    So far I have
    2 of the squares
    2 mega squares
    2 minion squares
    2 magic squares
    1 shim kit

I am going to Fabtech next month and hope to pick up a few more items from him directly. He usually has a show special price.

    On the want list
    Mantis pliers
    Magnetic 1-2-3 blocks
    Thin shim kit
    Combination square
    Maximus bar and dog clamp

He definitely has a nice niche. Creating and capitalizing off things many craftsman have done for themselves or recognize a need for. I have some of their cast iron squares.

That bar clamp is cool. Might be nice, since it I really have no use for it. Then, I will only order a pair.

Years ago I wanted then lagasse, but shipping was ridiculous at the time.

I would like everything except the squares

but I could most likely narrow the list down to the magnetic 1-2-3 blocks and the complete shim kit for now.

Looks like the next FabTech Las Vegas isn’t until 2024

Maybe I’ll skip the trip and just order a few things now…

Think about how much money you can spend at Fabtech in Vegas.

    ...

I'm to cheap for that stuff. I just fabricate squares and stuff like that as I need them.

this is what i like about fabrication .... and having OPTIONS.

    make your own OR purchase.

i made my own squares but i like buying nicely designed and engineered tools also

We had thought about this and then didn't think anyone would pay such astronomical money for them,,,,,, we were wrong.

Re: Fireball tools video on manufacturing process

the price doesnt seem astronomical to me. the money it cost for the material , then the price of your time cutting and welding it together then the price of a machine shop to machine the surfaces flat again. cheaper to buy fireball stuff

If you were going to build them might be more economical but most of us are not. There is nothing wrong with them, they are nice but they aint on my short list for tools.
