I only weld occasionally, but today I was using my Jackson w70 auto darkening helmet and it started acting weird. It was as though the batteries were dead, so I got some new batteries. The new batteries didn't fix it. I verified voltage of the cells and tried a few others.

When I first put in the batteries, the Weld button flashes for a moment. Then the Grind button comes on very dim. The battery shows full, Shade shows 11, Sensitivity shows 6, delay shows 3. None of the buttons do anything.

Has anyone encountered this and found a way to fix it?

The helmet and headgear are in good shape, which makes me tempted to try and buy another one like the first as to have spare parts, but I'd gladly trade spare parts for a helmet that doesn't need them. Any suggestions?

It has a 5 year warranty acxording to Jackson. How old is the hood?

My first auto darkening lens was a Huntsman 1100IVXL. It stopped working and I found that the battery terminals has a tiny bit of corrosion on them. I used a pencil eraser to buff the terminal and that fixed the problem.
I still have that lens and helmet but don't use it, I should get it out and see if it still works ok.

first helmet i ever bought was one of them jackson trusight back around 2014 or so. hated everything about it and sold it on ebay. i dont understand your logic of keeping the dead one to cobble up the new one when it dies. put it in the trash and start over with something else

Gonna send you a pm
