I have a sealed container of
Thermacote- Welco
Supermissileweld. 1/8 diameter
Can anyone tell me what this is.
The flux coating is pink. and has Super Missileweld printed on it.
Is it stainless steel? The instructions says it can be used on stainless and over 50 different steels.

Found a MSDS showing that J.W. HARRIS CO., INC. made this and a UltraSuperMissileWeld.

The chemistry range listed on the MSDS is too broad to know exactly what this is, but looks like a 300 stainless steel. 304 is your basic 18 Cr / 8 Ni, and this is 11-30 Cr / 1-10 Ni.

Did you put Missile weld in, that I had to cut out ?!?
Probably not, wouldn’t have broken again if you had repaired it.

How about “stainless dude” bigger than life for the rezoned complex?

Many years ago Eutetec had a high dollar filler called 680. If I remember correctly It was great for welding two different types of steel together. They has good info on proper proceedures. It really welds nice. Just a few years ago while at the welding supply I asked the counter man if he had an equivilent rod to the 680 and he sold me some of the Super Missile weld. It also welded very nicely.
