Multi pass for 1/4".

I have that machine, love it, but multi-pass for 1/4". Works great for the $$$, love it.

I have an SP 100. If I grind a nice Vee on both sides of 1/4" and weld both sides with .023 wire C/25 , I cannot break the weld.

Its all up to you.

Lincoln claims my SP 100 will weld up to 5/16 with cored wire. Same deal, grind a double Vee. I still have the first spool of cored wire NR211 MP with most of it left.

I think you will like the machine.

So maybe if I search for the next model up that gives me 10 more volts I can penatrate one pass on 1/4? I prefer to do one run and not multiple. The only time I do multiple runs ( not by choice) is at work and that's because the CNC guy messed up. Plus it looks like poop. It's good to hear feed back from the ones that has this Lincoln. It seems it can do the job regardless with alittle patience.

That will weld 1/4" ! I have the wirematic 250 and love it. It is only rated for 5/16 in one pass at 20 volts, 360 ips C25 .035 wire. With argon/2% 02 it will spray weld.

I've got a 100HD, it clearly says 12 gauge to 1/4 multipass required using NR*211-MP flux core, not recommended for MIG. Don't get me wrong I love this machine I does pretty much everything I need, and has worked flawless over the last 3 to 4 years. If I had it to do all over again I would have opted for a continuous voltage 220 model. But with the 100's price and capability to weld from 24 gauge(w/gas) to 1/4 inch(multipass FCAW) you can't beat it.

175 will do it. The 180C may be the better choice, and is a little less money at the supplier here...
