Setting up a Lincoln LN 25

I am a rank amateur, but have a "61" SA200 Redface, I set up an LN25 and I am having some trouble getting everything set. Running power for LN off positive post, setting at medium heat range (5 settings), 50 or so on the fine setting. I am using Lincoln 211 .045 fluxcore. At times I get a lot of spatter, then if I crank it up and burn it in pretty hot, not so much and a pretty nice weld. Any tips about setup, I may be all wrong, just like a little advice. Welding mostly mild steel, but will be doing some oilfield pipe and sucker rod soon. Thanks for any help.

Duane nailed it!
I can't help you with settings, because I can't remember from one machine to the next, but it generally only takes me a few seconds to dial a machine in. Here is Innershield run on a Red Face. 7018, and most T-11 wires run great on a Red Face.
