Hi folks
I need your help
Can someone please tell me the specs on the 6 pin round plug that attaches to the machine on a K870 Amptrol foot control? (it has small print on the edge of the plug and i need those specs - MIL specs)
Also i have an aftermarket pedal wiring scheme (in attach) that mentions the need of 2 capacitors in parallel with the potentiometer (number 37 on the schematic), can someone confirm that please? A linc rep told me theres no extra components beyond the potentiometer and the switch but now i am confused. If you can help me i would be highly appreciative. TIA

It looks like the aftermarket uses 3kv caps. I don't think the foot pedal pot gets more than 12volts and Probly only 5volts. If Lincoln said you don't need them then don't. I have the same plug on my homemade k870. I used caps but as I recall, I couldn't find 3kv caps and used whatever was closest. The caps suppress noise on the foot pedal signal. Don't over think it. I will look for mil specs on the plug but why?

Thanks for the 1/2 price plug info Albrighttre. I think its same used on some Lincoln engine drives for ditch boxes.
I can use this for tig'n with my Invertec V-250-s. Maybe remote stick?

Wildweasle, it will work without caps. The caps I used are 6800uF 1KV. On homade K870 pedal. I'm going to cut the caps since the linc rep told you no extra components.

Hi all
all info is correct and in fact the original amptrol K870 uses those type 472 caps (4700UF 3KV ceramic). i ordered them as they are cheap but i will try without them first so i can use the same wiring for 2 different machines. The refs for the plug are also correct as i was able to dig and confirmed by you all. The civillian equivalent starts with "97" instead of "MS". i was looking for the mil ref as i have them readily available as they are consumables on my line of work. Advantages of being in the military )
I will be using this pedal for both the Lincoln Invertec 220TPX and my Kemmpi MLS3000 as they also use 10K Ohm pot. i will use a 16S-1 box type connector in the pedal and then use 2 different leads one for each machine. Kemmpi uses amphenol 16S-1 7 pin connector which is the size under the 18-12 one for the Lincoln. If the caps are not required then wiring will be simple and the same for both machines, if required i will have to wire a DPDT switch so i can add the 2 caps in parallel for the Lincoln setup vs no caps for the Kemmpi. Thanks all for the info. I hope this helps others as well.

If required, you can use a dpst instead of dpdt. No dpdt needed but then I would leave caps in for Kemmpi and no switch needed. I don't understand why the Kemmpi cares if noise suppression caps are used.

Where did you get your caps from wildweasle?
