i've had it in my head now that this is the best shirt ever for welding and work in general. i'm a pipe-fitter/welder/plumber/structural/ worker guy, and i would buy 5 of these per year and they held up great, for a whole year!!! and at the 35$ or whatever i was paying for them, i was a happy guy.

my year is up on my last five, and i had been casing the closest boot-barn waiting for new stock, so i jumped online and bam! in the link above, in the q/a section, carhartt themselves saying the style has been discontinued. . . . . . I AM SO DISTRAUGHT!

I seriously wrecked a bike on pavement doing close to 30mph (verified by the speed-trap flashing at me shortly before i broke a shift lever and lost it) in one of these and it didn't rip. i took my shirt off and my skin fell out of it, but the shirt didn't rip at all.

that is the standard i measure shirts to. what else is out there that has the same durability? any ideas? just today i bought a lapco fr rated (SCAM! fr rating does nothing for sparks!) shirt from the weld supply. . . . .for 55$ to try out. is that my only option?

in the past i have tried the wrangler snap shirts-i dont like them. they aren't hemmed at the bottom and i had my. . . . .bottom burned bad enough that i had to buy a new wallet. not a pretty picture having me "shaking it" at another welder while he slaps my arse with a welding glove. PUTITOUTPUTITOUTPUTITOUT! oh the memories. . . . .no wranglers.

please help me guys. i just want some shirts that are willing to go to work with me without breaking the piggy bank

My brother bought about a half dozen Eddie Bauer work shirts several years ago and gave them to me as they were too big for him. I wore them and wore them when welding. They were very comfortable and lasted a long time and always looked great with just washing and drying. When I finally wore them out I went into a store that sold Eddie Bauer products and found out that they did not make them any longer. So far I haven't found any other shirts that I liked wearing near as well as them. Too bad as they were a great shirt.

there's another work shirt/clothing option out there for a very reasonable price. the correction connection prison blues clothing co. made in usa by guy's doing hard time. for about $35 you can get what looks like a good quality welding shirt. probably not fr and not heco en mexico:nono:

Go to Goodwill or Salvation army and buy some 100 % cotton dress shirts( those ***** lawyers wear them all the time). Chop the bottoms level and sleeves up to the top of where your glove lands, pockets, whatever. Any kid with an upholstery shop or a local seamstress can make you EXACTLY what you need/want,Grab some cotton bib overalls and cut the azz end out and make you some aprons too.

them little twits in boot barns dont even know what there selling. doms in livermore is like a disneyland for hunters/outdoors/workers. second guess would be joe hassans in lodi. both places are knowledgeable, big stock, fed ex/ups
