Who needs a trailer to haul scrap... I came up on this on my last trip to the scrap yard. It was being pulled by a rusty Jeep Cherokee going about 25 mph and still all over the road. SMH
I've pulled my dads tow truck with my little 1992 Chevy Silverado 1/2 ton pickup without someone guiding it and that wasn't fun trying to keep it straight.

I was driving the tow truck and as I was heading home it broke down and wouldn't start back up. So I had to go get my little truck and hope that it would pull it the 3 blocks home.

I would never tow a truck or any vehicle down the highway or any further distance without someone guiding it. Then again I'd just load it on my dad's car trailer if it were around and haul it that way. "Much Safer that way"

I thought it kinda funny that the tow truck needed towed this time and it was towed by a non tow truck.

I tied a belt to the steering wheel of the Ford Tow Truck and through the door to keep it somewhat straight. But still the truck kept going all over the road and even slammed into me. lol

There's no way I'd go 25MPH doing that unless I had a tow bar. But I was just using a chain.

Saw this the other day - I did not crawl underneath, but can only imagine what was holding the axle to the frame.....These were brand new trailers! View attachment 694931 View attachment 694941
My dad has a trailer that he bought at home depot with welds like that.

After seeing those mass produced trailers and what kind of welds are on those. I trust my welds a he double hockey sticks a lot better than what's on those trailers.

And imagine how many of those trailers with those welds are rolling down the road right now.

My welds aren't fantastic but I can do a lot better than what's on those crappy trailers even if I have to grind out and redo them. "Which I did on my bumper pull conversion."

I ground out the bad looking welds and redid them so they're much better now.

Saw this "thing" in a parking lot at our Local Fred Meyers grocery store.

Someone just un-hooked from and left it there....
I had a trailer like that. Though it had a regular trailer axle underneath it and new trailer tires and wheels. I gave a guy $10.00 for it in Arkansas when I was 20 years old.

I had $5.00 in my pocket and asked the guy if he'd hold it for me if I gave him $5.00 now and the rest of the $5.00 the next week. He took the $5.00 and held it for me.

I showed up with the other $5.00 and my lawn tractor and pulled it a few blocks home.

It had crap tires and wheels on it so I had to buy some new wheels and tires. Before I made a road trip with it. I made it the 500 miles from Arkansas to Kansas with it but did lose a piece of angle iron that was bracing something underneath it. "Not sure what it braced" The thing had no leaf springs and the bed was just welded to some pipe in the middle of the bed and then the pipe welded to the axle.

It was a pos trailer that I never should've took on that road trip as the bed was rusting away badly. After a few years of using it in Kansas I decided to scrap the trailer bed and keep the axle.

I figured I got a good deal on the trailer though for the axle.

I think I have a pic of the trailer on my other computer. I'll have to see if I can find it and upload it to this thread.

I tried to embed the video and it's not working and when I put the url on the forum is doesn't work either. Take out the spaces in the url and take a look at the video at youtube. Isn't that a 110 volt mig welder he's using to weld this highway use trailer?

Found out the word filter is messing with the url.

Take a closer look at the url and see what word you can find in it.
