Thanks Louie - found that about 5 mins after posting too ..........

Can you just repair the hose ? Or are you better of just getting a new torch/hose assembly. Also is teh same series (head) on torch as the original - I think so but not 100% sure - for accessories etc.

 

So took it apart a bit ....

Looks like its a 35-50 DIN - whatever that means at the machine end. And I guess from spec sheet a 9mm gas supply ferrel thing that clamps onto both internal copper wire and then the outer jacket.

Easy to replace or no ?

Do they make adapters for other kits also curious ?

eg if you wanted to run the harbor freight vulcan tig torch ....... seems like good value

 

You can get a replacement hose from CK worldwide. Around $78, cheaper if you get the the 12'.

unfortunately ? I dont think that will fit inside my dinse connector. Also not sure what these clamps are meaning how safe to splice a new regualr 17 torch in and reclamp somehow.

Cut 1 end off ........ and the clamp with a single ear hose gas clamp.

Problem is the original torches on webiste dont spec teh size of the joint - as this hose 3/8-24 RH male connection

Will have to email alpha I guess.

I don't know, maybe someone with more experience can chime in. You could try and refit a new hose there, provided that you could crimp it really well, but that would be temporary solution at best, and it might mess with the high frequency a bit if not done well. I know how tempting to save a bit here and there but it's not worth it in my opinion. You also still need to buy the new hose, which is close to half the value (for CK Worldwide at least) of what Louie suggested unless you are trying to cut out the bad part of the hose and reconnect?


Edit, nevermind, you are taking about the gas hose only.

 

I think its the gas and power hose all in one. BUt yeah think your right - probably not worth it. Main reason for looking this route was so I can get replacement hose easily - so like something from amazon or harbor freight would be ideal. Most welding shops closed on weekends and limited stock.

Ill call HTP next week when they re-open. Really dont want another clamped dinse style ........ if the HTP one is all screw fit probably just get that - else looks like you can make your own similar to this.

The HTP is a clamped dinse style, but it's made by ck worldwide, one of the best TIG peripherals manufacturers in the world, they don't come better than that. Nothing like the one you have burned.

 

BUt if the hose gets burned again - out another $150

So Same amount of money ....... CK torch on both .............. bot now interchangeable/replaceable due to screw fitting. *shrug*

 

Yes Welder tend to write in their ads all kinds of inaccurate specs. There is no such thing as lift start torch, that's a machine feature, not a TIG torch. Lift start is one of 3 ways to initiate the arc at the start of the weld.
